Herman Miller announced at Neocon the reissue of selected prints by famed designer Alexander Girard. Michael McGinn Design Office was chosen to create a temporary exhibit in Herman Miller’s Chicago showroom that would showcase the history of Girard’s designs.

The exhibit was placed in a part of the showroom near the entrance with a low ceiling – a challenging space that we capitalized on by creating an intimate circuit for visitors to follow. Multiple openings keep the space from feeling claustrophobic, with the largest and boldest items near these entrances to encourage visitors to enter.

The exhibit featured examples of work Girard produced for Herman Miller, La Fonda del Sol, Braniff International Airways, and others. Interspersed with original vintage pieces were examples of the reissued fabrics on Herman Miller furniture in a small consultation area that sales associates could use as a setting for presenting their product line.
